Fixtures, Features & Design
A built-in niche keeps shampoo and soap within reach and off the floor, and it can become a design feature.

A niche is a recessed shelf built into the wall between studs. It holds bottles without a wire rack, and it can be sized to fit what you actually use. Done well, it is also a feature, with a mosaic back, a stone shelf or a strip of accent tile that frames the opening.
Niches must be waterproofed and sloped so water drains out instead of pooling. We plan niche size, height and location before the wall is built, so they sit in a useful spot and do not run into pipes, and we install them in showers across Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Ledges, corner shelves and bench storage give more options.
